Description
A fragrant rose that needs some summer water and part shade in the interior. In higher elevations or near the coast give it sun and good air flow. This rose has the best hips for tea of any I've smelled.. It bears its fragrant flowers in large numbers followed by large amounts of large (for wild roses) hips every year here in the nursery. The rose hips make excellent tea and the petals are wonderful for potpourri. They have the most wonderful fragrance. An excellent bird plant. We saw this in the wild around June lake and at Troy meadows. It is in its native range there between 3500-11000' along the east side of the Sierras and up to B.C.. It is well armed but the thorns are straight so it doesn't reach out and grab you. [FIR,YEL,LODGE,MEADOW][C][YR][pH 5.5-7.5]
