Description

A delicate sub-shrub that arches up to 3'. Normally 2'. A bristly slender shrub with fairly large frangrant pink flowers. This looks like a little formal perennial in cultivation. In the wild it looks wild. I've seen it growing under manzanitas in such a tangle that I thought I would not get out. I've seen it growing along a road in the Santa Lucias in full sun looking invisible until it flowers. It is native from our co.(San Luis Obispo) to Idaho,Mont. and B.C.. We've found it easy to grow. Garden tolerant, moderately drought tolerant. Its normal rainfall area is between 30-50 inches/year. [shaded by CHAP, MIX, FOOT, YEL, RED, CSCR]
