Chaparral Pea is an evergreen shrub (deciduous under stress). It will grow to 3' tall and 6' wide. It is difficult for us, but usually of in a native garden. Do not try if you have not planted natives before. Best for hard core native plant nuts. It has purple pea flowers that are showy. Chaparral Pea is native to the Sierra Nevada and coast ranges. It is tolerant to sun, drought tolerant. This plant spreads by underground roots, excellent for bank stablization. It is a very interesting and different species that we grow as an oddity more than anything else. It is native on the nursery site.
