Description

A short-lived perennial (ours seem to last 5-6 years). The native range is in the desert ranges from S.Ca. to E.Wash and Utah. It has white-pink 3" flowers that fade to pink. The 12" leaves are from base only. The delightful fragrance is from the flowers. It needs reg. water with good drainage. Protect from deer unless you like stumps. We've seen the plants growing on the sides of a drainage ditch in full sun along a middle elevation meadow. In its wild element it supports a rare moth. In our garden one of the sphinx moths work it and O.Hookerii. We have had a few 5" flowers from our plants, they are a little hard to miss so customers remove them from the nursery if they flower. The flowers appear here in July and August about 2 weeks after the Elberta peach is picked. Customers report it doing well in a watered yard in interior clays.(Yeach!)
