Erigeron 'WR' ,Wayne Roderick Daisy.. It's kind of funny that Wayne didn't want his name on the plant, but it's a great plant and WR (which he originally called it) didn't do him justice. - grid24_3

Description

This one is impressive. Erigeron Wayne Roderick is lower, darker green with smaller leaves than the species, and is believed to be of hybrid origin, with one of the parents being Erigeron glaucus. The flowers are 1" across and lavender with much blue in them. (Maybe because it over hangs the ocean?) The neat thing about this one is its everflowering. Keep trimming the dead flowers off and it will keep flowering. Ours gets trimmed down every two months and it keeps flowering through spring, summer and fall. I know of no other flower with this type of flowering period. If you live next to the coast I would expect the flowering to be even better. These plants had flowers on them when the December, 1991, cold snap hit; the flowers froze off at 0 F or -2 F, but there were flowers on the plant 30 days later. I would use this plant on both coasts. Plant the plants 2 ft. apart to make a border or groundcover. The silver blue flowers on dark green foliage blend with grays or sharply contrast with pale-yellows. We use with Artemisia pycnocephala 'Davids Choice' to border perennial beds. This may be misnamed. Wayne gave this to us with a w.r. label, and we called it Wayne Roderick because Wayne gave it to us. Apparently, someone else did the same with another. If we ever get it figured out we'll post it here. Wayne's gone though, so it may not happen.
