Description
A large clumping green grass. Native in the interface zone between plant communities or in openings. Commonly in areas that have seeps in winter. Drought resistant in most areas. In the desert areas, San Joaquin Valley give extra water in spring and early summer. If over watered will lose form and look something like a bean bag a fat person sat on. At Gaviota Pass this plant, Encelia calif., Baccharis pilularis, and Artemisia make up the plant community that over hangs the ocean.
(Syn. Leymus condensatus)
