Grows in seasonal creeks, wet areas commonly with with Salix lasiolepis, Ambrosia sp., Quercus agrifolia and Populus. Prefers wet soil, clay or gravel. Thrives in a disturbed plant community, rhizomatous, stems triangular. Can make a 30 ft. X 30 ft. clump. This perennial is an invasive nativeweed.

Cyperus eragrostis tolerates clay, no drainage and seasonal flooding.

Flower of Cyperus eragrostis has color yellow.
