Las Pilitas Nursery
California Native Plants are all we grow!
An evergreen shrub 2-3' with a sprawling habit that lends itself to being a high groundcover in hot dry areas. In the desert areas plant under an Acacia Greggii or Chilopsis to give some shade in the afternoon. In the San Joaquin 'should be ok in full sun. The one at CALM, Bakersfield is 5' tall after 10 years. Give 1/week water until est.. We are not sure how cold hardy this one is, my guess is 0-5 deg. f.. Our mother plant was planted out years ago and forgotten. We found it when we cleared out some 'Carmel Creeper' that froze around it. Ta-da! No water or care for 6+(10?) years and it was alive. It's not a barn burner, do not plant and expect it to grow up the side of the house. It will be about the same size two years later. It is supposed to have a berry that looks like a red 1/4"orange (it's in the citrus family), we've seen two in 6 years.
