Description

Ceanothus L.T. Blue is eight foot tall and four foot wide. This mountain lilac gets most of its characteristics from Ceanothus  leucodermis; white bark , medium blue flowers, and glossy rounded leaves. LT Blue is cold tolerant to 10 degrees F. or less, is extremely drought tolerant and smells good. The Ceanothus thyrsiflorus contributes uniformity and garden tolerance. Ceanothus L.T. Blue likes good drainage and full sun, and a drought resistant garden setting or a native garden setting. Do not plant this mountain lilac into an English garden and expect long life. Abuse it with drought, gravelly soil and heat and it will live for decades. The myth of Ceanothus being short lived is primarily spread by incompetent gardeners that insist on drip irrigation, a summer water program, fertilization and the addition of soil amendments. Most California native plants hate all that stuff. Expect a 25-35 year life in most drought resistant gardens. L.T. Blue stands for leucodermis X thyrsiflorus, and the flowers blue.
