Las Pilitas Nursery
California Native Plants are all we grow!
Various-nerved Sedge. Carex heteroneura is one to three foot tall, more clumping than spreading. It is found in mountain areas at elevations above 600 feet. It likes full sun and seasonal flooding. It can tolerate poor drainage as it is often partially submerged in water. Carex heteroneura has green iris- like leaves and is stress deciduous. This sedge would be a pretty vertical element in a sunny, moist meadow area or at the edge of a water feature in a mountain garden, and is highly desirable because of its clumping, not running habit. Companion plants are Trifolium geminiflorum, Juncus xiphioides, Danthonia intermedia, Carex stipata, Sisyrinchium idahoense, Juncus nevadensis, Agrostis variabilis, Glyceria striata, and Perideridia gairdneri.
