Carex fracta
Carex fracta Fragile Sheathed Sedge.
Carex fracta
Description
A beautiful green perennial that lives in mountain meadows, road cuts, rocky slopes, and seeps. The soil can be fairly dry, but as it dries out the foliage will fade. This sedge looks kinda like someone planted a bunch of green haired trolls at ground level, leaving the hair trailing on the ground. I thought was a grass at first, then, since I was in deep forest, maybe troll wigs, then figured out they were sedges.(A bit slow that day.) The dry soil should signs of being very wet in spring, the part shade of the forest made the foliage seem even darker than it was. The soft fine foliage was laying to the side giving the hair do an Elvis/troll look.
