Bulbs. 1', flowers like tulip, yellow, purple to white, part shade to full sun, no summer water, in most of Ca. perfect drainage. It takes 3-5 years from seed to grow the bulb up to salable size. Everything eats this one, plant 8-12" deep and pray. Just about all communities.

Calochortus species tolerates clay.

Foliage of Calochortus species has color silver and is deciduous.
Flower of Calochortus species has color white.

Communities for Calochortus species:Chaparral, Creosote Bush Scrub, Valley Grassland, Sagebrush Scrub and Southern Oak Woodland.
