Description

'Point Reyes' manzanita has green leaves with some gray, green and some red. It grows rapidly near the coast as long as it has water. Its final height is 2-5 inches tall and width is 10 feet. As long as it is in garden conditions near the coast or in middle elevations it is good to great. We have to water it as we would a lawn, but in San Francisco and north it probably will survive with no extra water. In interior heat (100F) Point Reyes likes part shade or afternoon shade. In north coast or northern western gardens this manzanita can make a wonderful flat mat of green and red. Beautiful in places like San Francisco, Oakland, Eureka, Portland, Seattle, etc.
Needs regular garden conditions and part shade in Sacramento, Riverside and Fresno. Probably be fine with once a week water and cool sun (not a hot spot) in Santa Monica or west Los Angeles.
