Description

Mountain Yarrow's leaves are smaller and tighter than the common native yarrow in California. The plants are lower to the ground, flowers are as large and a bright, pure white. Achillea lanulosa grows in snow fields into sunny, rocky out crops and down into the creeks from middle elevations to 8000 feet. It is all over the middle elevations under the Canyon Live Oaks (Quercus chrysolepis)and Jeffrey Pines (Pinus jeffreyi) in dry or wet shade. We have one that is growing in amongst the pots where it is getting daily watering. It has grown to 1 ft. tall and 3 ft. across. All flowers, with native flies, wasps, beetles, and butterflies always on it. Very showy for 3-6 months. Deadhead the plant and it does it again.
