Native plants can look just like garden plants, with little work.

At one of our local nurseries, I came across a Santa Cruz Pyracantha which Isee growing in the wild in the canyons near my home.; Despite its name, Idiscovered that this plant is actually a native of the Far East.; Are thereany California natives that look similar to the pyracantha that has suchdecorative red berries, and offers food to the local bird population? |
Heteromeles
arbutifolia Christmas Berry, Toyon. Pyracantha is a nasty weed |

Hi,
do you have any recommendations for a Corona del Mar site? I am
providing
suggestions to my neighbor in the hope that she will relandscape
with natives instead of vincas and impatiens. (I have natives
and it would be great to extend the habitat community.) I have
the web list, but do you have any suggestions.I
am trying to strike a balance by suggesting plants that look more
"traditional"
or "English garden" which the tenant says she likes,
because
when saying "native" scares a lot of people. So
I was thinkingCleveland

Fuschia Catalina Cherry (tree) Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks so much. I love your zip code site. What a resource. Will make sure to visit your store sometime. |
