Salvia bernardina X is a naturally occurring hybrid between Salvia columbariae and Salvia mellifera. As one of its parent, Salvia columbaria, is an annual Salvia bernardina X is a fairly short lived perennial. Salvia bernardina X likes full sun and sand. This sage is great for a bird or butterfly garden. Like most sages it has a lovely fragrance. It dies back under stress, but will rebound when conditions become favorable.
