Description

Sierra Plum grows through most of the Sierras from about 2000 to 6000 feet as you you closer to the coast it grows to sea level from Monterey up into British Columbia. The flowers appear before the leaves making a show. Fall color can range from yellow to bright red. Common associated plants include Wedgeleaf Ceanothus, Ceanothus cuneatus; Brewer oak, Quercus garryana var. breweri,; Serviceberry, Amelanchier alnifolia; Idaho fescue, Festuca idahoense; Bluestem wheatgrass, Agropyron [Pseudorogneria] spicata; California oatgrass; Danthonia californica; Pine bluegrassPoa secunda(Poa scabrella); and Needlegrasses, Stipa [Achnatherum] spp.. At another location you can find Sierra Plum with Juniperus occidentalis,  Penstemon deustus and Lomatium californicum.
