Description
This Sierran tree looks like a narrow leaf Black Cottonwood. crossed with a quaking aspen. The cottonwood of much of the Rockies makes it into California around Bishop, Mammoth and the White Mountains. It has grown fine here in full shade and regular water. With its fall color and beautiful form it is a natural for landscaping at riparian area at 6000+ feet. If you do not live in a lookout tower with a creek next to it, it will still work very well in 5-6000 foot summer lodges where there is adequate moisture. Mix with Quaking Aspen to get contrast and stability in a pond or creek planting.
