A small creeping perennial fern that grows throughout much of the west to B.C. and Mexico. Western Polypody is usually found in rocky crevices that are seasonally(winter) wet drying in summer to no moist at which time the plant disappears for the year, reappearing in winter when the ground moisture is recharged by rain. You can use it in walls or steps where there is a crack that has afternoon shade and abundant winter moisture, with fairly dry summer conditions.
