Description
Eriophyllum lanatum var. grandiflorum; Common Woolly Sunflower is a grey perennial, 1-2 ft., 2 inch, yellow, daisy-like flowers, good garden plant, full sun, dry conditions, good mixed with Penstemons, blue-eyed grass. It has good flowers for cutting. The perennial gardeners like this one. We have seen this in the central Sierras growing under Toyon, Bay, Interior Live Oak and Madrone. The plants in the ground here are doing fine and seem to be stable in full sun with no water
This plant is a form of Eriophyllum lanatum which is very diverse and plastic, hybridizing with other 'species' of Eriophyllum so the pictures online are going to vary. But it is a nice little perennial with little bouquets of yellow daisies that the butterflies like.
