Description
Brother James manzanita is from the eastern edge of the Arctostaphylos parajaroensis population. Starts were given to us by Brother James of Mission San Juan Batista, (now of Mission San Luis Rey). These are small plants, maturing to maybe a few feet tall and wide. He reported they were different than the others in the area and should be in the trade. We've grown them for awhile now and they seem very stable, yet prehistoric looking. Sometimes the plants are like finding a live dinosaur.
Use as small specimens or a narrow flower bed or as a wild mini-hedge.
